Our New Engine Build |
The first step of my new engine build has to do with the the new look and detail of the engine case itself. I am using a new aluminum engine case that is clearanced for the stroker crank. It has been drilled for full flow oil and beefed for strength. Step one was to get a engine stand that could hold the weight of this new power house. The legs of this engine stand lets you lower the whole engine down to the ground so it can be put directly onto the dolly jack. That lets you put it into the new buggy without having to lift by hand. Linda found just what we needed for $39.00 on the internet, she is a smart person and knows how to use that net! The next step is to detail the block itself. I wanted our new engine to have that total custom detailed look. I am polishing the whole block so it will look like chrome when done. I figure this will take about 100 hours of work. That is worth it to me as it gives me a chance to remove flashing from the casting process as well as smooth all the corners for a ultra smooth look of the block itself. |
As you can see in the picture at the left, part of this process is already underway. There is a big difference between what is started ( not even near polishing ) and what is not started yet. I think this is going to be well worth it! I am having fun anyway, with these cool mornings and gentle winds. What a way to spend the time, a man out doors and a buggy to work on! |
The picture at the right shows the first shining part ( top left ) and the regular case at the right. I am looking forward to the finished block so I can get on to installing parts. |
