Bringing Your Buggy Body Home! |
One problem I always had was how to bring a Buggy Body home without chipping or breaking the body. I tried to tape them down to the bed of a pick up,line the bed with packing blankets, and or doing both. I always seemed to find a small crack, chips, or damaged surface where the movement in the truck bed caused by the wind would damaged the body I had saved and saved to buy! |
The answer I founds was to build a cradle which sat inside the Pickup Box. This gave the Body something to sit on and it will easy to mount the body to the Cradle without damage to the body. How do you mount the body to the cradle without putting drill holes in the body? We are just going to show the cradle design. |
The Cradle clears the inner wheel wells and is very sturdy so the body being hauled will have mounting points. The Hood of the proto body will slip under the cradle and have plenty of room. The Best Part is that the cradle sits high enough to not let the body sit under pressure, and the body will not scratch the truck bed. I know that sounds a bit anal but this truck is only two years old and I don't want it to look like it hauled trash for years - it might even help with the resale value when I choose to sell her. |
The best part of this cradle design is that comes apart for storage and is simple to put together should I need to haul a body! |
